JULY 29, 2007 E-NEWSLETTER

Greetings Teams!

Welcome to the July e-newsletter. Well the Colorado Relay is quickly approaching. Only 54 days to go! We’re looking forward to another great year. Here are a few updates for you for the end of July.

Colorado Relay ImagesVOLUNTEER DATABASE: New for 2007, we’ve created a database that lists all the volunteer assignments with their tentative times, duties, location and other information. No longer will you enter requests into the TEAM Registration Database in the comments field. Instead view the Volunteer Assignment Database from the Volunteers Home page. Find an assignment that you (or your volunteer) prefer and click on the “Assignment” link IF it says OPEN in the Volunteer Name column. If there is a name there, it is filled. This brings up an email that you fill in, then send to our Volunteer Coordinator, Kristy Falcon. We will do our best to accomodate your request, but please understand that we cannot always fill every request and may need to place volunteers at specific locations or exchanges. Remember there are over 250 assignments to choose from. Several legs/exchanges may change based on route changes. These will be finalized by August 15, 2007.

  • Also in 2007, if you cannot supply two Official Volunteers you have two choices. You may pay the penalty -- $75 per volunteer (only applies to teams with a runner living within 100 miles of the race course) OR
  • You may have one volunteer cover TWO consecutive shifts (sign up the same person using the Volunteer Assignment Database.
    • If you have 3 or more volunteers please consider signing them up for one exchange point for the entire duration of the exchange point. This is incredibly helpful to the volunteer staff and allows us to be more efficient throughout the course. Please do this from the Volunteer Home Page.
    • Also, we are continuing our tradition of awarding a prize for the best Exchange point.

WAIVERS: The waivers have been updated and are available for you to download for your runners, Official Volunteers, team volunteers, van drivers, etc. These are due by race day.

FUNDRAISING LETTER & PLEDGE SHEET: We've updated the Fundraising Letter to assist you in raising money with your company or your friends and family. We've also added a Pledge Sheet for this purpose as well. Get these documents as well as more information and who we're raising money for on the Fundraising Page. Our goal is to raise more than $30,000 for Outward Bound Wilderness and Judi's House.

ROUTE LEGBOOK & HANDBOOK: The Legbook and Handbook will be posted by August 15th. We'll send out an e-newsletter when these are available. We expect to have few significant changes to the 2007 route. The 2006 route will be largely intact. However, several legs on the Georgetown side of Guanella Pass and the legs in Vail may change. New for this year, we will not be printing copies of the legbook and handbook for teams. We ask that runners print out their individual legs and captains ensure that both vehicles have a copy of the handbook (driving directions and resources).

RELAY CLINIC, HAPPY HOUR AND VOLUNTEER MEETING: We are currently scheduling these meetings and will post them to our Events Page and notify you all through a newsletter shortly.
